It’s Scrapfest season again! It was not too long ago, when we were awed by the layouts and altered boxes produced during the Scrapfest in May. Our scrappers once again impressed us with their talents.
Scrapbookers in the Philippines have grown by leaps and bounds and the Scrappin’ Moms are proud to see our little industry flourish. For the benefit of our new scrapbookers, let me tell you what Scrapfest is all about.
SCRAPFEST is a bi-annual event, which we started in May 2006. It has become a whole day affair, jam-packed with demonstrations, make-n-takes and layout challenges. It is also a day of shopping for the latest and greatest scrapbooking products brought in by our local suppliers/resellers.
Cherry Arte, Purple Onion and Canon Philippines generously sponsored the last Scrapfest in May 2007. Scrappin Moms aims to host the Scrapfest at least twice a year to make sure we are kept abreast of the latest trends and materials the in the US.
And, more importantly, we want to provide a venue for all scrapbookers in the country to meet and share knowledge about scrapbooking.
And judging from the talent here in Manila, its not so far off that we make our mark in this thriving industry. With our very own talented Iris Babao Uy becoming Memory Makers Master, we feel the talents of this group will soon be discovered.
Sooner or later, some of the talented ladies here will follow her foot steps and make a name for themselves. The first search for the ‘Scrappin Moms Idol’ is well on its way and this competition is a true testament to this treasure trove of talent. Despite all the whining and questions for each round, they never fail to deliver and amaze us with their sensational layouts/projects.
Scrapfest has provided a ‘perfect’ venue to showcase FILIPINO ingenuity, innovation and talent. We are proud of all of you as you keep honing your craft and impressing us with your work.
We are also proud of how Scrapfest has produced undiscovered talents. The Scrapfest has showcased those talents and given them a platform to show off what they can do.

PROMOTION #2 Bring a friend, Win a prize We encourage you all to try and find a new scrapper untapped by any of the e-groups in town. You can help contribute to building a stronger scrapbooking industry here by finding those individuals who are eager to learn but don't know where to start. You will be the mentor-partner of this newbie during the Scrapfest. Teach them the ropes and help them purchase new products and guide them throughout the day's activities.
1) Invite a newbie/neophyte scrapper who is not a member of any scrapbooking e-group (MyScrapWorks, Pinoyscrapbookers or Scrapbooks-exchange).
2) Pay fees of both Scrapper and newbie on or before September 30, 2007. Both of you will be entitled to win $ 15.00 worth of scrapbook items each.
3) The more people you invite, the more chances for mentors to win in the 'bring a friend' promo!
